Today is the twelfth day of my fast against corruption
by arvind kejriwal at news war media in kaushambi(up)
My fellow Indian,
I write to you from Sundar Nagari. Today is the twelfth day of my fast against corruption in electricity and water sector in Delhi that results in unaffordable bills for the aam aadmi.
Sundar Nagari is a working class colony in the trans-Yamuna area of Delhi. In the last decade I have seen aam aadmi in this colony work for their livelihood against all odds: lack of sanitation and other civic amenities, inadequate and poor quality of water supply, unaffordable electricity, low grade education and inadequate health care and, of course, rampant corruption.
The story of Sundar Nagari could well be the story of India. Ordinary women and men of this country toil for two square meals a day, but this corrupt system fails them. This is why the fight against corruption is the beginning of a new story of India. The movement led by Anna Hazare opened this possibility. Ordinary people came on to the streets to demand a strong and effective Lokpal. They did not get this, for those who could pass such a strong anti-corruption law are the fountainhead of corruption. We realized that any attempt to tackle corruption will not succeed unless we take on the challenge of cleansing politics.
That is why we had to enter politics. The decision to form Aam Adami Party is but a logical step in the fight against corruption. Our party does not seek to capture power; it seeks to restore power back to the people. We believe that politics and ethics can and must go together.
We are not alone in this struggle. Sitting here in Sundar Nagari, I have been overwhelmed by the response of aam adami and aam aurat to our Civil Disobedience movement. More than Nine lakh citizens of Delhi have already signed a pledge to join this struggle against corruption. Patriotic citizens like Shri Anna Hazareji, Justice Krishna Iyer, Mr. J. M. Lyndoh, Admiral Tehliani, Admiral Ramdas and Professor Pushpa Bhargav have endorsed this current campaign. Beyond Delhi too, the Party has had an enthusiastic reception. More than 300 district units have already been set up. Just within a few months this mission has entered a new phase.
Through this letter, I seek your participation, in whatever way you can do so.
If you live in Delhi we urge you to join the movement by stopping to pay your bills. Please click here to sign the petition.

Arvind Kejriwal
